Noah update

Two weeks ago we had Noah assessed for Speech Therapy and he qualified. Today we had him assessed for OT and he also qualified for this. They are concerned with sensory issues and his lack of interaction. As for speech he is about a year behind. We have two more assessments in the next couple weeks. We are assessing his hearing (10 ear infections) and he is being assessed with a Developmental Pediatrics MD. We are waiting for an appointment for this last one. The doctor today said he could have one of 2 things. He could have a language disorder or Autism. Either one will require extensive Therapy and he will qualify for a developmental pre-school at three. Both these diagnosis occur during the brain development while in the first trimester. The transitions in our life this past 2 years have little do do with these problems. I am very grateful for these things:
1. an early diagnosis--the earlier the diagnosis the sooner we can get treatment
2. Moving back to Washington--My parents have agreed to watch Jonah during these appointments.
3. Insurance--so grateful we have it!!
4. My teaching background--I will be able to help!!
5. My skill with the slower learner--this was the group I excelled with.
6. How quickly things are going..kids development is taken very seriously

Please pray for
1. a quick assessment and a timely plan set in place
2. A facility that fits our needs--the waiting lists are extensive
3. The therapy staff having knowledge to help Noah
4. Patience for all involved with the scheduling process and babysitting of Jonah
5. Perseverance for Noah
6. calmness for me-I struggle with stress and being overwhelmed.

The doctor also said that this will be an extensive program for up to 5 years. I am very calm about all this and very grateful that we are on the track to help Noah and get him caught up developmentally.

memorization work

Jonah is doing great on his Catechisms. Today we had the cutest conversation. He decided to ask me the questions and I answered. The conversation went like this:

Jonah: why do we glorify God?
m: Because he made us and takes care of us
J: He takes care of me and you and Noah and Josh
m: yes he does
J: he made me and trucks
M: yes
J: very big trucks? Are they too big for him to lift?
M: No nothing is too big for God
J: Big trucks??? They are only too big for us?
M; yes they are too big for us..but not for God
J: OK!!!!

I love how 3 year old minds work!!!
